Presented by Jonathan Bagg performing with Benjamin Fingland (clarinet), Maiani da Silva (violin), Emely Phelps (piano) and Laura Gilbert (flute). The title for his presentation is drawn from a Bartók work that was written for Benny Goodman in 1938. The program features music of great contrasts, with unusual instrumentation.

Program: Boccherini Cello Quintet Night Music of the Streets of Madrid; John Harbison Presences for solo cello, string quartet, and bass, commissioned to honor the young cellist, David Anderson (1978-1998); Brahms Sextet for Strings in G Major OP 36, the early joyful flowering of Brahms’ musical voice.
