J.S. Bach’s Mass in B minor, a monumental work from his final years, is often seen as the consummation of all the compositional techniques and means of expression learned during a lifetime of writing choral-orchestral works. Performing it is often described as a lifetime experience, and listening to it can feel equally transcendent. The Mass will be performed at Baroque pitch (in a lower key), accompanied by period instruments.
