Construct-A-Guy, Tere's talk, The Lace

Tere O’Connor presents a milestone program that pairs his newest ensemble creation, The Lace, with a reconstruction of his first dance, Construct-A-Guy (1984). Originally made for and performed by himself, Construct-A-Guy emerged from his early artistic naiveté and established the distinctive craft methods—shifts in rhythm and energy, spatial fragmentation, a collagist sensibility, and fluid movement between multiple meanings and personas—that still define his work today. O’Connor will join the stage between pieces to share a brief talk about his choreographic intentions.
