The award-winning British choir Tenebrae, directed by Nigel Short, is internationally renowned for performances of extraordinary clarity and emotional depth. The ensemble appears regularly at major venues and festivals worldwide, including the BBC Proms, Wigmore Hall, and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.

Their program, A Prayer for Deliverance, brings together choral works that reflect on rest, solace, and spirituality. Music by Caroline Shaw, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Joel Thompson leads to the centerpiece of the evening: Herbert Howells’ luminous Requiem, one of the most moving works in the English choral tradition.

Gustav Holst: The Evening Watch
Cecilia McDowall: Standing as I do before God
Francis Pott: The Souls of the Righteous
Caroline Shaw: and the swallow
Richard Rodney Bennett: A Good-Night
Ralph Vaughan Williams: Rest
Joel Thompson:  A Prayer for Deliverance
John Tavener: Song for Athene
Ralph Vaughan Williams:  Valiant for Truth
