In Incredible Animal Athletes , ecologist and National Geographic Explorer Lucy Hawkes takes the stage to share the remarkable stories of animal perseverance behind these epic journeys. Along the way, meet the unexpected mammals, fish, and birds that qualify as the most incredible animal athletes, and trace their massive migrations across the globe. 

A physiological ecologist, Hawkes tracks animals across the globe using advanced electronic tracking technology. Her work spans species from deep-diving basking sharks to highflying bar-headed geese. She was the first researcher to track sea turtles from populations in North Carolina and the Cape Verde Islands.
