ABOUT
The Student-Faculty Show is a decades-long tradition at the Duke University School of Medicine! Entirely directed, produced, written, and performed by Duke University medical students, this full-length musical chronicles the journey of Elle Woods, a brilliant, famously perky, blonde medical student at Duke with dreams of a big career in dermatology. Her perfect plans are turned upside down when her undergraduate mentor decides to drop her from his lab in favor of her more “serious” male counterpart, Warner Huntington III. Elle finds the motivation to prove herself by working hard, with support from her fellow medical students, a surgical resident, and some unexpected allies. Along the way, her classmates are also confronted with questions of identity, purpose, and finding their way in the medical field. Ultimately, Elle defies expectations and manages to stay true to herself, saving lives in her signature pink scrubs, and inspiring the rest of the school to be true to themselves! All proceeds from the show will benefit Root Causes with partner Farmer Foodshare! Root Causes is a nonprofit started by our very own Duke medical students! They run several programs in the community including providing fresh produce to over 350 community members with food insecurity, assisting newly housed community members with building a home, running a local community garden, and supporting community members in reaching their exercise goals. Nonprofit Farmer Foodshare works closely with Root Causes to distribute fresh produce to the local community!
