PROGRAM

BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK, a play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage, is a seventy-year journey through the life of Vera Stark, an ambitious African-American actress working as a maid, and her tangled relationship with her boss, a Hollywood star desperately grasping to hold on to her career. When circumstances collide and both women land roles in the same Southern epic, the story behind the cameras leaves Vera with a surprising and controversial legacy scholars will debate for years to come.  In the land of lights, glamour and magic, what is real and what is make believe?

There will be an intermission between Act 1 and 2. There will be no late seating for this performance.

Estimated Run Time: 150 minutes including intermission
